Delikado - NT Premiere with Special Guests at The Darwin International Film Festival

Delikado - NT Premiere with Special Guests

94 mins | Rated UC15

The NT Premiere of DELIKADO screening with the short film MAMIRNIKUWI. Special guests include Tom Bannigan, Director of Photography from DELIKADO and Rebecca Parker, Director of MAMIRNIKUWI.

This screening will be facilitated by a host from the Environment Centre NT who will be able to give us insight into the environmental issues here in the Northern Territory.

DELIKADO: Winner of the 2022 Sydney Film Festival Sustainable Future Award. Tourists are amazed by the powder-white beaches and lush forests of the idyllic tropical island of Palawan. However it feels more like a battlefield for the network of passionate environmental crusaders trying to protect its spectacular natural resources. Three of the network's leaders take us with them as they come up against politicians and businessmen who seem intent on destroying the Philippines' 'last ecological frontier'. Greed and corruption are not uncommon issues when it comes to the environment. But Delikado leaves viewers with a message of courage and resilience.

MAMIRNIKUWI: After discovering that her home on the Tiwi Islands is at risk from a huge gas project, Antonia Burke mobilises her community creating the first ever Tiwi Women’s Ranger group.
