Let the Dance Begin at The Darwin International Film Festival

Let the Dance Begin

99 mins | Rated MA15+ (Strong coarse language)

Three decades ago, Carlos and Margarita were the most famous tango couple in the world. Having since retired, Carlos now leads a quiet life in Madrid, enjoying life away from the stardom and stages with his Spanish wife. Margarita, meanwhile, remains in Buenos Aires. Carlos receives a call from the tango couple’s former manager Pichuquito telling Carlos he must return to Argentina for a memorial service for Margarita, who has recently passed away. Shocked and saddened, he reluctantly boards a plane to honour his deceased friend and dance partner. Upon arrival, though, Carlos gets some truly surprising, life-altering news that will soon send him on a road trip into the wilds of rural Argentina. What awaits him there will change everything. It will also reveal the many levels of truth in that old expression, ‘It takes two to tango.’ A marvellous combination of comedy, drama, and, yes, tango, Seresesky’s appealing, amusing, and wistful film is a thoroughly enjoyable journey for lovers of tango, of long friendships, of road-trip movies, and of love itself..
